Pinguino from Caminandes 3. This character was rigged using BlenRig5 ***(beta)***. To see the BlenRig panel, you need to have the addon installed.

This file (and BlenRig, and pretty much any file with drivers or Python stuff on it) won't work properly unless you have "Auto Run Python Scripts" enabled in the user preferences, or click 'Reload Trusted' on the info bar on the top when loading the file.

I when i open it i dont see the BlenRig Panel, i tried with victor's rig too and i dont get it either... is it a problem on my version?, i got it yesterday from the buildbot... i have autorun scripts on... any ideas?

Note that The latest script only works with the rigs from Caminandes, Cosmos Laundromat rigs need the version used in that project. I'll update all my rigs so that they can use the latest version in the future!

Awesome anim! Eek! sorry that would be my fault. the spots were mapped to random texture coordinates, so that when we instance a number of penguins, they would each get a different pattern. This technique uses the Generated Coordinates, which works fine apparently for the body mesh, but not for the fur particles. I switched the mapping to use the UVs instead, we will replace this file with the fixed version.

This Pinguino looks great, and could be a very good example to start using BlenRig5, however there is an issue somewhere in the script; when I open the file, the terminal prints the following error continuously:

And the Panel doesn't show everything (no Armature layer, incomplete body picker, and nothing more below). Is that because this file was using the beta version of BlenRig5, and I have installed the official release?

How can I fix this (without having to install beta version)? Or should I wait for someone to update this file with good settings? Thanks again!

Hi @polo: , yes, this might lead to confusion. Pinguino is not meant to work with the latest BLenRig, the Caminandes 3 version of the addon should be used if you want to have a panel in that rig.

I will update all these "old" characters at some point, so that they can work with the latest BlenRig.

Hello, I gave this character a try but something's wrong with the file (I suppose). In Blender 2.77 (on MacOS), I have the latest BlenRig (v1.0.1) and the cheeks of the penguin are wobbling so much that they distort the lower part of the head. I only opened the file, hit play and saw that. Am I missing something obvious there ?

Apart from that, the latest BlenRig won't totally work with this rig. The only character here which uses the latest BlenRig is Victor, all the others use the version of the addon from the movie they were used in. In this case, you should download the addon from Caminandes 3, in case you want to use the gui. The addon is not really necessary to use the character.

Well, let me know what happens in 2.76!

Also, in the description it says that it's rigged using BlenRig (beta), so maybe it conflicts with the latest BlenRig? Better check with Juan Pablo.

@Juan Pablo Bouza: Hello, thanks for the quick feedback ! It's obvious that this option needs to be enabled but it was not mentioned anywhere (if it was, I didn't find it) and it's not enabled by default in Blender. Auto-run fixes the whole problem and it works fine under 2.77. :)

Thanks for this :) I could not get this to work at all until I downloaded the production files for Caminandes 3. I'm working on a Mac, and I installed BlenRig + enabled “Auto Run Python Scripts” and was about to give up (tried various versions of Blenrig from Github too.)

So it was a nice surprise to be able to open the Pinguino blend file and find it working perfectly.

Could this way of accessing the character be made clear in the overview above, with a direct link to the production files?

There is something wrong with this file. When a open it in Blender (with auto run python scripts enabled) appears with only the default cube/camera/lamp. It's weird. :/

@Néstor Arellano: The extension was wrong, it was .blend when it was actually a .zip file (the right Blen-Rig script is bundled). I've re-uploaded the file now.
